Online Lesson Guidelines for Students

Due to COVID-19 and following government guidelines, a certain amount of our lessons will be delivered online. Therefore, to support this aspect of student learning the following expectations for our students are required:

• Online lessons will be delivered through Microsoft Teams and our Virtual Learning Platform ‘Firefly’. Students must have access to both of these platforms. The live lesson link will be available on ‘Firefly’ 10 minutes before the lesson is due to start.
• Students will be required to be online 10 minutes before the school day starts.
• Students in Yr’s 3-13 are required to attend every online lesson as per their timetable on firefly.
• Students in Yr1 and Yr2 will be required to attend their English, Maths and Arabic live lessons as per their timetable on Firefly.
• Pre-School and Reception students will attend two live sessions a day as directed by the class teacher.
• Students will be required to wear their school uniform whilst being taught online.
• Students must have their cameras on at all times during lessons with their microphone muted.
• All tasks within the lesson will be completed on Firefly and these tasks must be completed before 7 am of the next day.
• Students cannot use the chat feature unless told to do so by the teaching staff.
• If a student has a question they can use the ‘raise hand’ feature and wait for the teacher to address the student.
• Students must act responsibly during these lessons and respect other members within the lesson. Parents will be informed of any misbehavior.

We will also send the timetables to inform you of which days your child should be attending school and which days they will be working online. We shall also keep you updated regarding any information regarding the start of the school if and when we receive updates from the ministry of education.

We are taking record of the daily tasks completed. If you find it more convenient to sit with your child in the evening, they will be recorded as present as long as the task is completed. Absences will be recorded when the tasks are not complete.

We recommend using a laptop and MacBook devices for the best user experience. Mobile and tablet devices have been found to be incompatible with the interface.

Please use the chat feature to type a message, which the teacher will be able to read. If the problem continues to occur, the video lesson will be available on Firefly under the task description for the same lesson.

Students do not need to turn their webcams on nor their microphones. The online lessons are designed to be teacher-led and are to support with the Firefly tasks.

Please use the chat feature to ask your message. The teacher will dedicate a few minutes at the end of the lesson to answer any student questions. You can also use Firefly to send a message to the teacher, related to any of the tasks.
