Counselling at The Gulf English School

Our team includes three counsellors, each with expertise in psychological development, mental health, and various therapeutic frameworks like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Play Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. This allows us to employ the most appropriate evidence-based methods to support individual mental health needs, whether students are dealing with stress, anxiety, grief, family transitions, mood changes, body image, self-esteem, or friendship issues.

The GES Counselling Model

Our counselling model at GES is centered on client-based therapy, providing a safe and supportive environment where students can explore their feelings, thoughts, and actions. We listen without judgment, use Socratic questioning to delve deeper, and employ reflective techniques to ensure shared understanding.

  • We facilitate difficult conversations and help students navigate painful emotions, fostering self-reflection and awareness as keys to personal growth.
  • By validating feelings and offering empathetic connections, we help students recognize challenges and motivate them toward positive change.
  • Our strengths-based and solution-focused approaches support students in overcoming barriers and achieving their goals, allowing them to thrive both academically and emotionally.
  • Collaboration is key: we work closely with students, their families, school staff, and, when needed, external agencies, always ensuring that the student's consent and comfort are prioritized in sharing their experiences beyond the counselling space.

At GES, no issue is too big or small. We are committed to supporting our students' mental health and wellbeing, helping them build resilience and reach their full potential in a nurturing environment.
