As we reach the end of another busy week, I would like to thank all parents for their continued support with their children's learning. This week marked the beginning of our End of Year Assessments, and it has been wonderful to see such strong attendance across the school. As I have visited classrooms throughout the week, I have been impressed by the positive attitudes, focus, and determination shown by our students. While assessments are taking place, learning continues as normal throughout the school day. Teachers are providing targeted revision and support sessions to help students consolidate their understanding and feel confident in their learning. Full attendance remains essential during this period to ensure that every child benefits from these valuable learning opportunities. To help children perform at their best, we kindly ask parents to continue supporting healthy routines at home. Ensuring children eat nutritious meals, stay well hydrated, and maintain a consistent sleep schedule can have a significant impact on their concentration and learning. Research shows that children who do not get enough sleep can experience up to a 20% reduction in attention, memory, and learning performance, highlighting the important role that rest plays in academic success. Finally, a reminder that re-registration for the next academic year is now open. To secure your child's place and avoid any disappointment, we encourage families to complete the process as soon as possible. Thank you once again for your ongoing partnership and support. Miss Kim |

Reception |
This week, we have continued our topic ‘Once Upon a Time’ and introduced a new traditional tale, Jack and the Beanstalk. The children have thoroughly enjoyed listening to and discussing the story, showing great enthusiasm for the characters and events. In Literacy, the children used their imaginations to think about what they might see if they climbed Jack's beanstalk. They shared some fantastic ideas and worked hard to describe their adventures in the clouds. In Maths, we have been focusing on composition to 20, exploring different ways numbers can be made and represented. The children have been developing their understanding of number bonds and number relationships through a variety of practical activities. The children have also enjoyed being creative this week. They decorated their own magic beans, using their imagination to make each one unique. They also created their own beanstalk artwork, carefully adding tissue paper to build and decorate the beanstalks. Well done Reception for another amazing week!

Year 1 |
🌟 This Week in Year 1 🌟 This week in Literacy, the children have been using their imagination to innovate the story The Royal Party 👑🎉. They have been creating their own exciting ideas, changing parts of the story, and becoming fantastic young authors! In Maths, Science, and IPC, we have been working hard on lots of fun revision activities to help us prepare for our upcoming assessments 📚✏️. The children have been showing off everything they have learned this year and should be very proud of their hard work and effort! ⭐ Keep up the amazing work, Year 1! 🌟👏😊

Year 2 |
This week in Year 2 🌟 It has been another busy and exciting week of learning in Year 2! In Maths, we began our new Position and Direction unit 🧭. The children explored the language of position and movement while also completing lots of arithmetic revision, building confidence and fluency with key number skills. In Literacy, we created fantastic text maps for the story The Snail and the Whale 🐌🐋. This helped the children deepen their understanding of the characters’ journey and the sequence of events, preparing them for their own writing. In Reading, the children continued to develop their VIPERS skills 📚 by exploring a range of both fiction and non-fiction texts. They practised retrieving information, explaining vocabulary and making thoughtful predictions and inferences. Last week, we were also thrilled to take part in the GES Bin Omran Talent Show ⭐. Year 2 proudly showcased a basketball shooting team 🏀, a gymnastics group 🤸 and a talented solo singer 🎤. We had so much fun cheering each other on, and a huge well done to everyone who took part and represented Year 2 so brilliantly!

Year 3 |
This week, in Maths, we have reached a huge milestone as we completed the full Year 3 maths curriculum. It has been incredible to see the children’s journey from starting the year with numbers to 1000 all the way through to confidently working with statistics. Their progress has been fantastic to watch, and they should be very proud of how far they have come. Alongside this, we focused on revising key skills in preparation for arithmetic and reasoning assessments, with a strong emphasis on showing clear working out and reading each question carefully, sentence by sentence, to build accuracy and confidence. In Literacy, we began planning our independent writing based on Qatar, where the children are creating their own fact files. They have been developing their research skills and gathering interesting information, some of which really surprised them! One of the most exciting facts we discovered is that Qatar is one of the richest and smallest countries in the world. The children have shown great curiosity and enthusiasm while collecting ideas, and this is now feeding into some excellent planning for their final pieces of writing. Across the wider curriculum, we have continued to build on key learning habits that support success in all subjects. The children have been working hard to improve their focus, independence, and resilience when tackling challenges. We are particularly proud of how they are beginning to take more responsibility for their learning, especially when checking their work and explaining their thinking. It has been a brilliant week of learning and effort across the classroom.

Year 4 Update: Assessment Week, Creative Tales, and the Journey of a River! 📝✨ What a brilliantly busy week it has been in Year 4! With the start of our End of Year Assessments, the children have thrown themselves into their revision with determination and focus. We are incredibly proud of how hard they are working to showcase their learning. 🌟 Even with assessments underway, our classrooms have been buzzing with creativity and interactive challenges. Here is a look at what we have been up to across the curriculum: Creative Authors in Literacy 📚✍️ In Literacy, the children channelled their inner authors to plan their very own "losing story" (a narrative where a character misplaces something important). The sheer range of imaginative ideas on display was wonderful to see. The teachers absolutely cannot wait to read the finalized stories next week! 📖🧐 Fun and Games in Maths 🎲➕ Revision does not have to mean worksheets! This week, the children practiced vital maths skills through a series of lively games:
It was a fantastic, high-energy way for the students to demonstrate exactly what they know! 🧠💪 Geography & Science Explorations 🌍💧 In our IPC sessions, the children turned their attention to the natural world, mapping out the water cycle and tracking the journey of a river all the way from its source high up in the hills down to the river mouth. It was wonderful to hear so much sophisticated new geographical language being used so confidently around the classrooms! 🌊🗺️ Meanwhile, in Science, our focus shifted toward the environment. The children began exploring the various impacts—both positive and negative—that humans have on the planet, sparking some very thoughtful discussions about conservation. 🌱🌏 A Note for Parents: 🛌🍳 As assessments continue, please ensure the children get plenty of rest and a good breakfast each morning. They are doing a marvellous job!

Year 5 |
This week in writing, we completed a hot-seating activity where the children stepped into the role of a character and explored their thoughts and feelings. This helped them develop a deeper understanding of the character and gather ideas to use in their own writing.

Year 6 |
This week has been largely focused on our end-of-year examinations, revision, and preparations for our Graduation Assembly. The children have spent a significant amount of time completing assessments across a range of subjects, and we have been incredibly impressed with the effort, maturity, and determination they have shown throughout the examination period. They have approached each assessment with a positive attitude and have worked hard to demonstrate everything they have learned this year.
