Dear Parents, As temperatures continue to rise, we are making small adjustments to ensure students stay safe and comfortable during the school day. Outdoor play remains an important part of learning and wellbeing, but it is now more limited and carefully timed to avoid the hottest parts of the day. We kindly ask parents to support us by ensuring children come to school well-prepared. Please make sure your child brings a refillable water bottle each day, as staying hydrated is essential in warm weather. We also recommend that all students wear a hat and bring sunglasses to protect themselves from the sun during outdoor activities. Teachers will continue to monitor students closely and encourage regular water breaks throughout the day, as well as provide shaded areas for play. Please also note that PE lessons are taking place indoors to ensure students can remain active in a safe and comfortable environment. By working together, we can help students continue to enjoy outdoor play safely while adapting to the changing weather conditions. Yours faithfully, Pamela Abbas Head of Infants | Gate opens 7:00 a.m.

This week in preschool, we continued our transport theme with a special focus on trains and the much-loved character Paddington. The students enjoyed exploring different types of trains, talking about where they travel, and engaging in imaginative play inspired by Paddington’s adventures. Stories, role play and creative activities helped bring the theme to life. In mathematics, our focus was on number representation and counting. The students practised recognising numbers, matching quantities and counting objects. They especially enjoyed using the interactive whiteboard, where they played fun and engaging maths games that supported their learning in an exciting way. For phonics, we introduced the sound 'w'. The students practised identifying the sound at the beginning of words and had fun thinking of examples such as 'water', 'window' and 'wheel'. They are becoming more confident in recognising and using new sounds. We are very proud of their enthusiasm and participation this week.

This week in Reception, we enjoyed reading the story The Little Red Hen. The students listened carefully to the story and talked about the importance of kindness, teamwork and helping others. We discussed the different characters and what happened throughout the story, and the students enjoyed retelling parts of it in their own words. As part of our learning, we also baked bread together. The students were very excited to help measure and mix the ingredients before watching the bread bake. The classroom was filled with wonderful smells, and everyone was very proud of the finished bread. In Maths, we focused on numbers 14 to 20. The students practised recognising, counting, ordering and forming these numbers through a variety of practical activities, games and number songs.

This week, Year 1 have started their final topic of the year, The Circus is Coming to Town. In IPC, the students created their own circus scenes, using their imagination to bring the big top to life. Year 1 have also been busy learning their new text map, building confidence in sequencing and storytelling. In Maths, the students have been recognising and finding half of an object or shape, as well as recognising and finding half of a quantity, using practical resources and visual models to support their understanding. In Art, the students had fun creating their own clowns, showing great creativity and individuality in their designs, and taking pride in sharing their colourful work with their peers.

It has been another busy and rewarding week in Year 2 as we wrapped up one learning journey and began exciting new ones across the curriculum. In English, the students completed their hot writes, bringing their work on ‘The Bear and the Piano’ to a wonderful close. They worked hard to apply everything they have learnt throughout the topic, producing thoughtful and creative pieces of writing that showcase their growing confidence, imagination, and developing writing skills. In Maths, the students revisited the topic of fractions and completed a post-assessment. This gave the students a great opportunity to reflect on and celebrate all they have achieved. The have now started the new topic of time. In IPC, we explored the fascinating world of microhabitats. The students investigated different environments and discovered how animals depend on specific habitats to meet their needs, developing their understanding of the natural world through discussion and exploration.
