In Year 3, children have been getting creative by designing and making their own Olympic medals, showing great imagination and attention to detail.

Year 4 have enjoyed hands-on learning in Science, creating model teeth, alongside beginning their work on coordinates in Maths.

In Year 5, pupils have been focusing on converting units in Maths and developing their narrative writing using story maps.

Year 6 have been developing their 3D modelling skills in Computing and enjoying opportunities to read outdoors.

It has been great to see such a variety of engaging learning taking place across the school.

Year 3 have been getting creative by designing and making their very own Olympic medals! First, they carefully sketched out their unique designs, thinking about patterns, symbols, and what makes a medal special. Using their artistic and imaginative skills, they then sculpted their designs from clay, shaping each medal with great care and attention to detail. Once the clay had set, the students painted them in bright and bold colours. The final results are fantastic, with each medal reflecting the creativity and effort of its designer!

This week in Year 4 has been full of exciting learning opportunities. In Science, the children enjoyed getting hands-on, by creating model teeth using clay to support their understanding of the different types and functions of teeth. During our Reading lessons, we were lucky to welcome a special visitor, and the children showed great curiosity by asking thoughtful questions. In Maths, we have started our new topic on coordinates, where the children have had lots of fun drawing grids and practising plotting coordinates in their books.

This week in Maths, we have been focusing on converting units of measurement, including length, mass and capacity. The children have worked hard to understand the relationships between different units and have been practising applying their knowledge to a range of problems, including reasoning and problem-solving questions.

In English, we have been developing our narrative writing skills. The children have used story maps to plan their ideas and have been introduced to new golden threads to help structure and improve their writing. They have shown great creativity when building their stories and are beginning to apply these techniques more independently.

In Reading, we have continued exploring our class text Crater Lake. The children are thoroughly enjoying the story and are engaging well in discussions, making predictions and using evidence from the text to support their ideas.

In Science, we have been carrying out a range of practical experiments as we bring our unit to a close. The children have enjoyed investigating and observing outcomes, and have shown enthusiasm when discussing their findings and reflecting on what they have learned.

It has been another engaging and productive week across GES Juniors, with pupils exploring new ways to learn both inside and outside the classroom.

In Computing lessons, children have been developing their skills in 3D modelling, using digital tools to design and create their own models. Pupils demonstrated excellent creativity and problem-solving as they explored how shapes, dimensions and structure can be combined to produce detailed designs. It has been fantastic to see their confidence grow as they experiment with new technology and bring their ideas to life.

Meanwhile, pupils in 6MF have been making the most of the recent sunshine by taking their reading outdoors. Enjoying books in a calm, open environment has been a wonderful way to promote a love of reading, while also allowing children to relax and fully immerse themselves in their texts. The positive atmosphere and focus shown by the class has been excellent.

These experiences continue to highlight the importance of providing varied and meaningful learning opportunities, helping our pupils to stay motivated, creative and engaged in all areas of the curriculum.
