Round up of this week | |
Head/Deputy Head Message
| As we swiftly move through the term, it is fantastic to see our students embracing the excitement of outdoor learning! With the weather now cooler, both teachers and students are making the most of opportunities to explore beyond the classroom through fun, engaging, and creative activities. Field trips and hands-on experiences are bringing lessons to life and taking learning to a whole new level. Our Year 5 students recently had an amazing visit to the planetarium, where they expanded their knowledge of space, planets, and our solar system. On Thursday, 23rd October, we will proudly mark Solidarity with Palestine, and students are invited to show their support by coming to school in traditional Palestinian clothing or in the colours of the Palestinian flag: red, green, black, and white. It will be wonderful to see our students come together in unity and empathy for this important cause. And this is just the beginning, there are many more exciting activities and events lined up in the weeks ahead, so stay tuned! | |

This Week in Our Classroom 🌱🍎🎲 This week, we explored the wonderful world of fruits and vegetables! We learned how plants provide food not only for us but also for many other living things. Through discussions and activities, we discovered how plants grow using sunlight, water, and soil—and just how important they are in keeping us healthy and strong.
We also found out that eating a variety of colourful fruits and vegetables each day helps us stay energized, focused, and well. Each colour—like red, green, orange, and purple—gives our bodies different vitamins and nutrients to help us thrive! In Maths, we’ve been diving into the number 6! From counting to patterns and games, it’s been a fun and focused week of number work! 🎲✨

Reception | |
This week, we began our exciting new topic ‘Weather Wonders’. The children have been learning all about the season of Autumn and how the weather begins to change. We talked about how the leaves turn red, yellow, brown and how the air feels cooler and windier. The children enjoyed exploring our Autumn themed tuff tray, filled with coloured rice, leaves, and cinnamon sticks. They used their senses to describe what they could see, feel and smell. We also sang Autumn songs and listened to stories about falling leaves and woodland animals getting ready for the colder weather. In Maths, the children have been matching objects to numerals and developing their counting skills through practical activities. It has been a wonderful start to our new topic and the children have shown great curiosity and enthusiasm in their learning!

Year 1 | |
This week in Year One, we had an amazing time at Katara exploring our five senses! The children enjoyed discovering different sights, sounds, smells, tastes, and textures around them. In Maths, we have been working on our number bonds to 10, using fun games and activities to help us remember the pairs that make 10. In Literacy, we have been learning all about questions and practising how to use a question mark correctly. The children have also started planning their hot write, which they will complete by Thursday — we can’t wait to see their fantastic final pieces! Everyone has done amazing learning this half term, and I can’t wait to see all the wonderful work next term!
Year 2 | |
In Year 2 this week, the children have been busy with lots of exciting learning! We have been completing our Hot Writes, using our plans to create exciting problem resolution tales inspired by The Incredible Book Eating Boy. The children focused on using adjectives, capital letters, and full stops, as well as neat letter formation to present their work beautifully. In Maths, we have been learning to add and subtract across 10 using number lines and counters to help visualise how numbers bridge over 10. The children are growing more confident using different strategies to solve problems efficiently. In PSHE, we had circle time to talk about friendships and how to be kind, respectful, and understanding. The children shared thoughtful ideas on how to resolve disagreements calmly and work together to make everyone feel included. Everyone has done amazing learning this half term, and I can’t wait to see all the wonderful work next term!
Year 3 | |
This week, Year 3 have written some fantastic diary entries to conclude our topic on diary writing. The children imagined a character who had travelled to the future from the Stone Age, and it was wonderful to read about all the fascinating things their character saw. They made sure to include all the key features we’ve been practising from, using time conjunctions and personal pronouns to expressing thoughts and feelings in their writing. In Maths, we wrapped up our topic on addition and subtraction with a short end-of-unit quiz. The children showed great understanding and confidence in applying their learning. Throughout the week, Year 3 also took part in a range of activities centred around Palestine. It was heartwarming to see their compassion, support, and genuine care for the country reflected in their discussions and creative work.

This week, in PSHE, we explored how to challenge stereotypes. Stereotype - a general idea about a group of people that may not be true. We began by sorting different cards, ‘stereotype’ and ‘real life’ into the correct piles. Then we discussed different ways to challenge stereotypes, we discovered, we had to be kind, include everyone and celebrate everyone's differences.

This week has been another busy and exciting one in Year 6! We celebrated Palestine Day, with the children proudly dressing in the colours of the Palestinian flag to show their support and learn more about Palestine’s culture and history. In English, we have been learning about simple, compound, and complex sentences, exploring how to use different structures to make our writing more varied and engaging. In Maths, we tackled worded problems and began learning about BODMAS, understanding the correct order of operations when solving more complex equations. During Guided Reading, we focused on making accurate predictions, thinking carefully about which predictions are sensible and which are not based on the evidence in the text. In IPC, we explored the meaning of mindfulness and completed some calming mindfulness colouring activities, helping us to reflect and end the week with a positive mindset.
