Deputy Head's Message

Another busy and successful week has flown by here at school—it’s hard to believe how quickly the days are passing, and before we know it, we will be celebrating Eid. It has been a real pleasure walking around the school and seeing our students so engaged, enjoying their learning, and working collaboratively with one another.

As we head into a well-deserved long weekend, we hope this provides a valuable opportunity for rest and quality time with family and friends. We wish you all a relaxing and enjoyable break and look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed for the week ahead.

Ms. Kim

Pre School

This week has been full of learning and excitement as we explored the story of The Bad-Tempered Ladybird 🐞. The children really enjoyed bringing the story to life by creating their own ladybirds using playdough 🎨. They carefully shaped the bodies and added spots, showing great creativity and fine motor skills ✋.

In Maths 🔢, we linked our learning to the ladybirds by exploring patterns. The children looked at the spots on different bugs 🐞🐜 and created their own repeating patterns 🔴🔵🟡, using colours and shapes. They did a fantastic job noticing and continuing patterns, as well as making their own .

In PSED 💭, we had important discussions about feelings, especially anger 😠. We talked about what can make us feel angry and shared ways to help calm ourselves down. The children learned that it’s okay to feel angry, but it’s important to manage our emotions in a kind and safe way ❤️.

It has truly been another wonderful week of discovery 🌟, creativity 🎨, and growing together 🌱

Reception

This week, we have continued our topic “The World We Live In” by exploring Yorkshire. The children enjoyed looking at photographs and discussing what they could see, including green hills, sheep, and different types of houses.

They made thoughtful comparisons between Yorkshire and Qatar, talking about the weather, landscapes and surroundings. It was wonderful to see them using new vocabulary to describe what they noticed and confidently share their ideas.

In Maths, the children have been building on their counting skills by developing their understanding of addition. They have been adding numbers together and using their knowledge of counting to help them find the total. It has been lovely to see their confidence grow as they begin to explain their thinking.

Year 1

🌟 What a busy and exciting week in Year 1! 🌟

Year 2

This week in Year 2 🌟

In Maths, the children explored mass and capacity ⚖️. They practised measuring accurately using grams and kilograms, as well as litres and millilitres. Using scales and beakers, they measured and compared different objects around the classroom, developing their understanding of heavier, lighter, full and empty.

In Literacy, the children focused on comprehension skills using VIPERS 🧠. They explored our new problem and resolution tale, identifying key features and deepening their understanding of the text.

In IPC, as part of our topic From A to B 🚗✈️, the children conducted a survey to find out how we travel to school. They also discussed what they see on their journeys, helping them make links between their learning and real life.

Another busy and engaging week of learning in Year 2! ✨

Year 3

This week, Year 3 have been exploring the effects of sugar as part of their PSHE health learning. The children visited the shop where they selected drinks with high, medium, and low sugar content. They then carried out an investigation using eggs to represent teeth, observing how sugar can cause staining and discussing the impact on dental health. They also estimated how many tablespoons of sugar are in foods such as donuts, cakes, and fizzy drinks, and were very surprised by the results.

In Maths, we began our new topic on money, where the children were introduced to British pounds and pence and started to recognise and understand their values. In English, the children completed short burst writing tasks to support their innovated writes, building confidence in applying their ideas independently.

Year 4

Year 4 Weekly Highlights

It has been another industrious week of learning for Year 4, with the children demonstrating fantastic engagement across all areas of the curriculum.

Literacy and Reading

Our young writers have been honing their persuasive letter writing skills. This week, the pupils successfully "boxed up" our model text to understand its structure and delved into the nuances of formal language. They also collaborated to create a comprehensive writing toolkit, which they are now using as they begin to innovate their own persuasive pieces. In Reading, there has been a sharp focus on vocabulary acquisition. The children have been expertly navigating dictionaries and thesauruses to refine their word choices and broaden their linguistic repertoire.

Mathematics

The focus in Maths has remained on decimals, with the children tackling increasingly complex concepts. We have explored how to make a whole using hundredths and practiced partitioning decimals into tenths and hundredths. Furthermore, the pupils have been developing their fluency in dividing one and two-digit numbers by 100, showing great progress in understanding place value.

Science

In Science, we "lent an ear" to the fascinating world of human anatomy. The children investigated the structure and function of the ear, learning to identify and name key parts such as the eardrum, cochlea, and ossicles. They enjoyed discovering how these components work together to translate vibrations into the sounds we hear every day.

IPC

Our IPC sessions sparked some thoughtful discussions as we explored the conceptual difference between a house and a home. This led to a fascinating comparative study of city versus countryside living, where the children debated the various advantages and challenges of urban and rural environments.

Year 5

This week in IPC, we explored stories of refugees from around the world. We analysed their journey; their thoughts and feelings and the reasons they had to leave their country. We now have a better understanding of what a refugee is, how they feel and the reasons they leave their countries.

Year 6

Literacy

The literacy topic, titled “Creating a Hybrid Report on Endangered Tigers,” was an engaging and inspiring opportunity for Year 6 students to bring their writing to life by combining factual reporting with vivid, descriptive language. The objective encouraged students to explore and present their knowledge through a structured hybrid report, focusing on habitat, diet, threats, and conservation. Success criteria challenged them to use formal language, organise their ideas clearly, include accurate and purposeful facts, and captivate the reader with rich description. Students enthusiastically researched key information and used the “box up” method to confidently plan their sections, including the introduction, habitat, threats, and conclusion. A text map further supported their understanding of structure and flow. With strong preparation in place, students produced thoughtful draft reports that skilfully blended informative content with imaginative detail—bringing the tiger to life while powerfully highlighting its endangered status and the importance of conservation efforts.

IPC

It has been an enlightening week in Year 6 as the children dived into their latest IPC unit. Our young geographers have been distinguishing between the daily changes of the weather and the broader concept of climate, discovering that a region’s climate is defined by weather patterns recorded over 30 years or more.

The children then investigated the various factors that influence our global climate. From the impact of solar radiation and latitude to how a country’s proximity to the ocean can regulate its temperature, the classroom was buzzing with scientific inquiry. To wrap up the week, the pupils explored the mechanics of our planet, learning how the Earth’s tilt is responsible for the distinct seasons we experience throughout the year.

It is wonderful to see the year group developing such a sophisticated understanding of the world around them!
