Dear Parents, Ramadan Mubarak to all our families. We welcome the arrival of this blessed month with gratitude and joy. Ramadan is a time of mercy, reflection and renewed intention. It offers our students a beautiful opportunity to strengthen their relationship with Allah, practise patience and self-discipline, and increase in kindness and charity. While Ramadan is spiritually uplifting, it remains important that students continue to attend school punctually and consistently. Seeking knowledge is a valued part of our faith, and maintaining good attendance ensures that students do not fall behind in their learning. School also provides routine, community and a positive environment in which they can continue to grow both academically and spiritually. We encourage families to support students by ensuring they have sufficient rest and a balanced suhoor. With the right preparation, our students can thrive in their studies while embracing the blessings of this sacred month. May Allah grant us all a fruitful and rewarding Ramadan. Yours faithfully, Pamela Abbas Head of Infants | Ramdan Infant School Hours 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

This week, students were inspired to explore the works of Pablo Picasso. They examined how Picasso painted faces in unique and imaginative ways, and they thoroughly enjoyed creating their own expressive portraits. They also experimented with ice painting, observing how colours mix and melt, and explored painting shapes, making links between art and early mathematical concepts. In phonics, the focus was on the sound ‘e’ for egg, with students practising sound recognition and beginning to form simple words. The home corner was transformed into a vibrant role-play area where students prepared for Ramadan, learning about traditions while practising sharing and kindness. These experiences supported self-expression, fine motor development and cultural awareness. It was wonderful to see students making meaningful connections between art, language and imaginative play.

This week in Reception, we launched our exciting new topic for the term — Heroes and People Who Help Us. To begin our learning journey, students have been exploring the important roles of doctors and vets, discovering how they care for people and animals and help to keep us healthy and safe. As a fun introduction to the topic, we enjoyed a fantastic school trip to KidzMondo, where students took part in real-life role-play experiences and had the opportunity to step into the shoes of everyday heroes. It has been a wonderful and memorable start to our new learning adventure, and we look forward to building on this enthusiasm in the weeks ahead.

Year 1 students have been introduced to their new storybook, Wild, and are already showing great enthusiasm for the text. In English, students have been writing detailed setting descriptions, carefully selecting adjectives to bring the forest vividly to life. Their creativity has truly shone through in their descriptive work. In Art CP, students have been drawing imaginative settings within a window frame, exploring the concept of perspective and thinking carefully about what can be seen in the foreground and background. In Mathematics, students have been learning about numbers to 50. They have been using Dienes apparatus to build numbers in tens and ones, strengthening their understanding of place value through practical, hands-on learning.

In our IPC topic, Sensational, students have been exploring their senses through a range of engaging and practical challenges. Over the coming weeks, students will delve deeper into how the senses work and discover how they are all connected. In English, our new class text is The Bear and the Piano by David Litchfield. Students are exploring how character descriptions are crafted and identifying the literary features used by the author to bring the story to life. In Mathematics, students have been learning to measure length and height. They particularly enjoyed measuring different items around the classroom using rulers and metre sticks, applying their understanding of centimetres and metres in practical contexts. It has been a stimulating start to this exciting new topic.
