Dear Parents, National Identify Culture and Values This week, students were introduced to the National Value of Brotherhood during an assembly led by the Arabic department. The assembly helped children understand the meaning of brotherhood and how it connects to friendship, kindness, and unity within our school and wider community. Over the coming weeks, students will be taking part in a variety of activities in both Arabic and English that explore this important value. These activities are designed to help them reflect on how they can show brotherhood in their daily lives, through their words, actions, and relationships with others. To support learning at home, Ms. Samar will be sending home information and simple activities linked to the theme of brotherhood. We encourage you to take some time to explore these together with your child, as it’s a wonderful opportunity to reinforce shared values and strengthen connections between home and school. Yours faithfully, Pamela Abbas Head of Infants | Dates For your Diary ECAs Sunday 21st September Sunday 28th September Sunday 5th October Sunday 12th October Sunday 19th October School holiday Thursday 24th September (1 day) |
This week in Preschool, we had a fantastic time learning all about Humpty Dumpty! Through this classic nursery rhyme, the children took part in a variety of fun and educational activities that supported their development across several key learning areas. To begin with, the children enjoyed reciting and singing the Humpty Dumpty rhyme together, which helped develop their rhythm, rhyme recognition, and language skills. They especially loved acting it out, which led to some wonderful small-world role play using miniature walls, toy horses, and little knights to re-enact the story. Role play like this helps to build imagination, language, and social skills, as the children collaborate and share ideas. To support fine motor development, we introduced a tweezers activity, where the children used tweezers to sort colourful pompoms into egg cartons. This fun task not only helped with hand strength and coordination but also encouraged colour recognition and sorting skills. It was a joy to see their concentration and excitement as they carefully picked up the pompoms and matched them to the correct sections. In early maths, the children explored counting skills by placing plastic eggs into a nest and counting up to five. They approached this activity with great enthusiasm and focus. The children had a brilliant time experimenting with baking soda and food colouring in eggshells. They were fascinated by the reaction when vinegar was added, what a fabulous learning experience!

This week in Reception, we learned the rhyme "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes." The children had lots of fun singing, moving their bodies, and practising their listening and instruction-following skills. We explored body parts using mirrors and simple drawings, helping the children observe themselves and build body awareness. They then enjoyed painting self-portraits and creating colourful handprint art, which gave them a lovely opportunity to express their creativity. It has been wonderful to see the children growing in confidence with their singing, actions, and artistic expression. |
This week in Year 1, we have continued our pirate adventures by making our very own pirate ships. In Maths, we have been learning number bonds to 10, using different activities to help us recall them quickly and confidently. In English, we created character descriptions for our own imaginative pirate characters, thinking carefully about their appearance and personality. We also explored directions, using the words forward, backward, left and right to guide our Beebots around a treasure map. The children really enjoyed giving instructions and watching their Beebots follow the path. In ICT, we have been learning how to log on and off the computer independently and developing our mouse control skills through fun activities. It’s been another busy and exciting week of learning in Year 1!

Year 2 has had a busy week learning how to innovate their text maps by adding new characters, settings, and adjectives, all in preparation for their writing next week. In numeracy, the students have been consolidating their understanding of partitioning numbers up to 100 and learning how to place multiples of ten on number lines. As part of our topic, A to B, the students have been exploring the importance of asking questions. They were challenged to come up with their own thoughtful questions to help guide their learning and enquiry. It’s been a fantastic week of creativity, curiosity, and developing key skills across the curriculum.
