Deputy Head's Message

It has been wonderful to welcome everyone back to school. The positive start to the term has been a real pleasure to see, and I am delighted to share that attendance has been fantastic. We have also seen a significant decrease in late arrivals, and I would like to sincerely thank our parents and families for being so proactive in supporting this.Together, we will continue to support all of our students in reaching their full potential this year, despite the challenges they have faced. Their resilience has been truly overwhelming, and I cannot thank our entire school community enough for the strength, commitment, and positivity shown.

Pre School

This week in preschool has been full of fun and discovery! 🐞✨ We loved learning about minibeasts and especially enjoyed meeting Norman the slug 🐌💛 with his silly shell—it made us laugh so much! We also spent time revising patterns and shapes 🔺🟡, becoming little pattern experts. Our creativity shone as we explored different arts and crafts 🎨✂️, making colorful and imaginative creations. Most importantly, we shared smiles, laughter, and kindness ❤️😊 while enjoying our time together. It has been a joyful week of learning, exploring, and growing as a happy preschool family!

Reception

This week in Reception, we have been continuing with our topic The World We Live In, focusing on talking about our homes and where we live. The children thoroughly enjoyed designing their own homes and writing about them, confidently sharing their ideas. They have also been practising their blending and writing words in the sand using the sounds they have learned. In Maths, the children have been learning to add more and practising their number formation, making great progress. It has been a wonderful week of learning in Reception. Well done!

Year 1

✨🌟 What an exciting week in Year 1! 🌟✨In Maths 🔢, we have been exploring equal groups and arrays—we’ve been counting, grouping, and becoming mini mathematicians!In Literacy 📚, we started our brand new book Charlie and Lola: We Completely Must Go to London!✨ The children have loved getting creative by making their own text maps 🗺️ to help retell the story in a fun and visual way.In Science 🔬, we began our new topic all about mammals 🐻🐶—learning what makes them special and spotting different animals that are mammals.In IPC 🌍, we explored the seaside 🏖️, learning about natural 🌿 and man-made 🏗️ features. The children had some fantastic discussions and shared great ideas!💛 It’s been a week full of learning, creativity, and fun—well done Year 1! 🎉👏

Year 2

This week in Year 2 🌟In Maths, the children explored length and height 📏. They practised measuring accurately using centimetres and metres, measuring a range of objects around the classroom. The children also compared lengths and heights, using key vocabulary such as longer, shorter, taller and shortest to describe their findings.In Literacy, we began our new text Dogger 🧸. The children immersed themselves in the story by exploring the model text, creating text maps and developing a deeper understanding of the characters and events. This has helped build confidence as we prepare for our own writing.In IPC, we launched our topic From A to B 🚗✈️🚢. The children explored different types of transport, learning how people and goods travel on land, through the air and across water. They shared their own experiences and began to understand how transport helps us in our everyday lives.A wonderful engaging week of learning in Year 2! ✨

Year 3

This week in Year 3, we have been working incredibly hard across all subjects. In Maths, we have been developing our understanding of fractions, focusing on adding and subtracting fractions with the same denominator. In English, we have continued to build our speech writing skills, learning the many language features of a great speech.In IPC, we explored new ideas and worked collaboratively on engaging activities. The children have shown great enthusiasm and resilience in their learning. I am very proud of their efforts and positive attitudes throughout the week. Well done, Year 3 keep up the fantastic work and continue striving for success, it has been lovely having you back in the classroom and seeing your lovely faces.

Year 4

It has been a delight to welcome the children back to school this week; seeing them return with such focus and a genuine readiness to learn has been truly wonderful. We have had a busy start to the new term across all subjects!Literacy and DramaIn Literacy, we have introduced our new model text: a persuasive letter to Ms. Kim. To help the children get to grips with the power of persuasive language, they have been participating in various drama activities. These sessions have allowed them to explore different viewpoints and practice the art of convincing an audience.MathematicsOur work on decimals continues this week. The children have been busy making connections between hundredths as fractions and their decimal equivalents, building a solid foundation for more complex place value work.IPCWe have officially launched our new IPC topic, ‘Houses and Homes’. The week began with some thoughtful discussions as the children explored the conceptual differences between what makes a ‘house’ and what makes a ‘home’.ScienceThere was plenty of noise in the best possible way during Science! The children had a fantastic time investigating acoustics, specifically looking at how sounds are created through vibrations. They used a combination of their own voices and various musical instruments to see—and feel—science in action.

Year 5

In our new IPC topic, we have been exploring migrants and refugees. As part of our hook lesson, the children considered what items they would take with them in an emergency and explained their choices. This helped them to begin understanding the difficult decisions people may face when leaving their homes.

Year 6

It has been a delight to see the children return to school after our period of online learning. They have dived straight back into their studies with fantastic energy and enthusiasm!In Literacy, we have begun exploring a fascinating hybrid explanation text titled 'Can We Save the Tigers?'. The children have been busy creating their own detailed text maps to help internalise the structure, while also investigating the specific purpose and key features of this writing style. It is wonderful to see them engaging so deeply with such an important global topic.

Creative Arts/P.E.

EYFS
In Creative Arts, our Pre-School children have enjoyed exploring both Music and Art through a fun monkey theme. They sang a variety of songs about monkeys, developing their rhythm, language, and confidence and used their artistic skills to draw their own monkeys. In Reception, the children explored art using chalk, creating a beach setting and experimenting with colours, textures, and shapes to express their ideas creatively. In PE, children were reminded of their fundamental skills such as running, dodging, and changing direction, and applied these in a variety of team games. They were also introduced to new tag games, where they had to protect their own tag while trying to collect tags from their opponents. These activities supported their coordination, teamwork, and decision-making skills, while encouraging active participation and enjoyment.Year 1
In Year 1 Art, the children continued exploring pattern, creating artwork using a variety of repeated designs and shapes. They also developed their sketching skills by drawing a beautiful beach scene in their sketchbooks, linking their work to the theme they explored during home learning. In Year 1 PE, the children continued their cricket topic, revisiting and refining their key skills. They applied these skills in a series of short cricket matches, developing their batting, bowling, and fielding while building teamwork and confidence.Year 2
In Year 2 Creative Arts, the children continued their topic on exploring colour. They completed their warm and cool colour sunset drawings in their sketchbooks and also explored colour mixing, experimenting with tints and shades to create different tones and effects. In Year 2 PE, the children continued their tennis topic, revisiting key skills and building on their understanding. They worked in small groups to practise and develop these skills, focusing on control, coordination and teamwork.KS2 Creative Arts and PE

Year 3

PE: Students enthusiastically explored basic invasion game skills, learning how to pass, catch, and move into space through fun and engaging activities. They enjoyed taking part in small-sided games, building confidence while beginning to understand attacking and defending as part of a team.
 Art: Students excitedly created their own landscape scenes, drawing simple horizons and adding features like sky and land. They used coloured pencils with care, showing growing confidence and creativity in their colourful work.

Year 4

PE: Students showed great energy as they developed their passing and receiving skills with more control. They began applying simple tactics such as finding space and marking opponents, working cooperatively and communicating well during small-sided games.
 Art: Students confidently created more detailed landscape scenes, adding features such as trees, rivers, and hills. They enjoyed experimenting with coloured pencils to add texture and detail, producing vibrant and imaginative artwork.

Year 5

PE: Students demonstrated strong engagement as they applied their invasion game skills in more competitive situations. They worked effectively as a team, using positioning and simple strategies to attack and defend, while showing improved decision-making and awareness of space.
 Art: Students took pride in creating landscape scenes with depth, carefully including foreground, middle ground, and background. They used coloured pencils to shade and blend colours, producing more realistic and detailed pieces of artwork.

Year 6

PE: Students performed with confidence and enthusiasm, using advanced invasion game tactics in competitive play. They communicated effectively, showed excellent teamwork, and made thoughtful decisions, demonstrating a strong understanding of strategy and fair play.
 Art: Students produced impressive and highly detailed landscape scenes, applying advanced techniques such as shading, blending, and perspective. They showed creativity, focus, and maturity in their work, resulting in well-presented and visually striking artwork.
