Dear Parents, Sports Day was a fun-filled and exciting event across the infant school, bringing smiles, laughter, and lots of energy to all the students. The students took part in a variety of age-appropriate sports activities, including the egg and spoon race, relay race, javelin throw, long jump, and a thrilling tug of war. Each event was carefully planned to encourage participation, teamwork, and confidence while making sure everyone had fun. Teachers and staff offered constant support and encouragement, celebrating every effort and achievement. Sports Day was not just about winning but about taking part, trying your best, and enjoying being active together. It helped students build friendships, develop sports skills, and create happy memories they will always remember. Yours faithfully, Yours faithfully, Pamela Abbas Head of Infants | Half Term Sunday 8th February – Thursday 12th February |
This week in Preschool, the students explored animals from a range of habitats, including the Arctic, jungle, desert and woodland. They learnt about how animals live and adapt to each environment. During gross motor sessions, the students moved like animals, practising jumping, crawling, balancing and stretching to develop strength and coordination. Outdoor learning included balancing games and obstacle courses inspired by woodland animals. Creative role-play activities were particularly popular. The students enjoyed ‘camping’ in the desert area through role play, using tents and small-world animals. As part of the Arctic topic, they worked together to build igloos using sugar cubes, helping to develop teamwork and fine motor control. Phonics learning focused on recognising and writing sounds from the SATPIN and MDGOCK sets. The students practised forming letters through mark making, tracing and playful writing activities. Overall, it has been a fun, active and engaging week of learning, supporting confidence, curiosity and early literacy skills.

It’s been a wonderfully busy week filled with exciting activities! This week, we explored the story The Princess and the Pea. The students enjoyed listening to the story and taking part in a range of activities inspired by it, including role play, discussions, and creative crafts. These activities helped develop their imagination, language skills, and understanding of the story. In Maths, we focused on length and height. The students compared objects, measured using non-standard units, and used mathematical language such as taller, shorter, and longer. They enjoyed exploring measurement through hands-on and practical activities. To conclude our topic, Kings, Queens, and Leaders, we hosted a Royal Ball. The students looked splendid, dressed as Kings, Queens, Sheikhs and Sheikhas and enjoyed a truly regal celebration!

Year 1 had a fantastic Sports Day, full of fun and teamwork. The students took part in a range of activities, including tug of war, long jump, javelin, throwing games, the egg and spoon race, running races and balancing a bean bag on their heads. They showed great enthusiasm, determination and sportsmanship, cheering each other on and enjoying being active together. Throughout the day, students demonstrated key transdisciplinary skills such as collaboration, communication and self-management. They showed our core values by being respectful to their peers, resilient when challenges arose and responsible for their equipment and behaviour. It was a wonderful celebration of learning, movement and positive attitudes.

It has been a fun-filled final week of term, with all students taking part in Sports Day and Maths Day, as well as enjoying a range of outdoor activities. The students also spent time completing their text maps and writing about their experiences on the Doha Bus Tour. In mathematics, we completed our introduction to the 5 times table, ensuring that all students now have a secure understanding of multiplying in 2s, 5s and 10s.
