Round up of this week | ||||
Head/Deputy Head Message
It has been a fun and exciting week here at our Bin Omran campus. Our students took part in a fantastic STEM Day that brought energy and enthusiasm across the whole school. There was a real buzz everywhere as pupils from all year groups worked within their houses, collaborating to complete a range of engaging STEM challenges. The sense of teamwork was wonderful to see, with houses competing in great spirit while supporting one another throughout the activities. Students were especially excited to discover which staff members were in their houses, making it a true whole-school team effort. The day ended with a final showdown, where each house presented their STEM challenge in an effort to outperform the competition. After some impressive presentations, the Blue Camels proudly took the victory! It was a brilliant display of cooperation, creativity, and house spirit. I was incredibly proud of all our students and thoroughly enjoyed the excitement and positive atmosphere the day brought. I am already looking forward to the next one. We also have another proud achievement to celebrate. A huge congratulations to our students who won first prize in the BSME Qur’an Competition, hosted at Doha College and involving schools from British Schools in the Middle East across Doha. This is a wonderful accomplishment and a moment of pride for our entire school community. Well done to all our students and staff for making it such a memorable week! Mr. Sidat

This week, the children have continued exploring the topic Imagine That. As part of this, they have been learning about the artist Piet Mondrian and exploring his unique style of art. They have created some truly incredible artwork, inspired by his use of bold colours and patterns. In Maths, the children have been learning about weight. They have been comparing and measuring different objects using balance scales and learning to identify which objects are heavier or lighter. The children also had a fantastic time during STEM Day. They were fully engaged and thoroughly enjoyed taking part in a range of exciting, practical activities. Well done to all the children for their enthusiasm, creativity and hard work throughout the week.

Year 1 | ||||
This week, Year 1 wrapped up our IPC topic The Great Fire of London by bringing history to life with our very own bakery! 🍞🥐 Parents were warmly welcomed in to see all the wonderful learning the children have been doing — from exploring the story of the fire to sharing their hard work with big smiles. In Literacy, the children have been busy completing their Hot Writes, showing off their growing confidence in writing and sentence building ✏️ In Maths, we’ve been practising counting from 20 to 50, spotting number patterns and becoming confident counting forwards like super mathematicians! 🔢 In Science, we turned into little scientists, testing different objects to see whether they float or sink 🌊🧪 — lots of predicting, splashing (carefully!) and excited discoveries! Well done Year 1 — you’ve worked so hard this week! 🌟
Year 2 | ||||
This week in Year 2 🌟 In Literacy, the children wrote their own instruction texts inspired by Ramadan 🌙⭐. They planned and wrote clear steps for creating a Ramadan moon and star hat, focusing on sequencing, imperative words and clear instructions. In Maths, we are finishing our Money unit 💷. The children have been learning to calculate amounts of money and find change, applying their understanding through practical, real-life problem solving. In IPC, the children have been very busy practising for our Treasure Island assembly 🏴☠️. They are excited to perform for parents, Reception and Year 1, and have shown great teamwork and confidence during rehearsals. Year 2 also had a fantastic trip to Tumbles 🤸♀️! The children thoroughly enjoyed developing their balance, coordination and teamwork while taking part in lots of active play. Year 2 were also delighted to take part in Bin Omran STEM Day, where the children worked in their House teams to tackle a range of exciting engineering challenges 🛠️. They designed and created moving coaches, decorative crowns and palace gates that could open and close, all while collaborating with children and teachers from across the school. It was a wonderful opportunity to problem-solve, be creative and work as a team. Another fun-filled and exciting week of learning for Year 2!
Year 3 | ||||
This week, Year 3 enjoyed many hands on learning opportunities in IPC. They mummified a tomato, building on their knowledge from last week about the process of mummification and exploring how ancient Egyptians preserved bodies. The children also had a fantastic STEM Day, working in their house groups to complete exciting challenges that combined science, technology, engineering, and maths. It was a creative and resourceful day, full of collaboration and problem solving. In English, the children finalised their letters to Pharaoh Amasis, carefully checking their work against their writing checklist to ensure they included all the necessary features. In Maths, they completed their topic on length and perimeter, taking their learning outside to measure the perimeter of different shapes and apply their skills in real-life contexts.
Year 4 | ||||
| ||||
Year 5 | ||||
This week in year 5 we have been looking at the process of evaporation. The children made a sugar and water solution and we have been monitoring it throughout the week to see how long it will take for the water to evaporate and also what will be remaining in the dish afterwards- will the sugar remain or will it have disappeared?

Year 6 | ||||
This week has been a fun-filled and productive one for the children. In English, we thoroughly enjoyed completing the innovation of our model text, and after half-term the children will move on to their hot write, where they will write a completely independent story. In Maths, we have been working hard to develop our understanding of algebra, focusing on formulae, substitution, and expressions; the children have taken to this new topic very well. In Science, we completed our experiment on light and shadows and collated our results, discussing what they showed us. We also enjoyed a fantastic trip to the farm in place of Sports Day, as well as STEM Day on Tuesday, where the children worked enthusiastically in their house teams and showed excellent collaboration skills.
