Round up of this week

Head/Deputy Head Message

It has been a fun and exciting week here at our Bin Omran campus. Our students took part in a fantastic STEM Day that brought energy and enthusiasm across the whole school. There was a real buzz everywhere as pupils from all year groups worked within their houses, collaborating to complete a range of engaging STEM challenges. The sense of teamwork was wonderful to see, with houses competing in great spirit while supporting one another throughout the activities.

Students were especially excited to discover which staff members were in their houses, making it a true whole-school team effort. The day ended with a final showdown, where each house presented their STEM challenge in an effort to outperform the competition. After some impressive presentations, the Blue Camels proudly took the victory! It was a brilliant display of cooperation, creativity, and house spirit. I was incredibly proud of all our students and thoroughly enjoyed the excitement and positive atmosphere the day brought. I am already looking forward to the next one.

We also have another proud achievement to celebrate. A huge congratulations to our students who won first prize in the BSME Qur’an Competition, hosted at Doha College and involving schools from British Schools in the Middle East across Doha. This is a wonderful accomplishment and a moment of pride for our entire school community.

Well done to all our students and staff for making it such a memorable week!

House Stem Day

A Royal Success: STEM Day House Challenge

On Tuesday, the entire school community came together for our second House event of the academic year: STEM Day. This year, our budding engineers and designers were set a fairy-tale challenge with a technical twist.

The brief? To design and build a coach or car to transport Cinderella to the ball, a regal crown for her arrival, and a functioning opening palace gate.

Innovation and Inspiration

From the first bell, there was a palpable sense of excitement across the classrooms. It was wonderful to see both students and teachers fully immersed in the spirit of the day, striving to be as inventive and innovative as possible. We saw everything from balloon-powered cars to extra, purpose-built ramps designed to give the vehicles that vital competitive edge.

True House Spirit

While the desire to win was high amongst all four Houses, what truly shone through was the team spirit. The collaboration was exceptional; students worked in mixed-age groups, with the oldest pupils guiding the youngest, ensuring everyone played a vital role in the builds. This sense of mutual support and camaraderie is exactly what our House system is all about.

The Grand Finale: Judging

By the time the final whistle blew, every single team had successfully completed all three parts of the challenge—no small feat!

  • The Crowns: The creativity on display was marvellous. Ms Kim played the role of Cinderella really well, testing the quality of the craftsmanship by trying on all the amazing crowns to ensure they fitted her perfectly!
  • The Gates: We saw some fantastic mechanical thinking, with many groups successfully using hinges and levers to create grand entrances.
  • The Coaches: A brilliant array of transport options that would make any fairy godmother proud, especially those that utilised the ramps for a grand, speedy entrance.

The Results

The scoring was incredibly tight, making the judges' jobs very difficult indeed. However, after tallying the points for design, teamwork, and functionality, we are pleased to announce that Blue Camels were the overall winners!

Well done to everyone for making it such a memorable and high-energy day of learning.
