Dear Parents, As we return from the winter break, we warmly welcome our students and families to what promises to be an exciting and productive term ahead. We hope everyone enjoyed a restful break and is feeling refreshed and ready for new learning opportunities. This term is filled with much to look forward to. Students will be engaging in a wide range of learning experiences that build on their skills, curiosity, and confidence. Parents will have the opportunity to connect with teachers through upcoming parent meetings, providing valuable time to discuss progress and goals for the months ahead. We are also excited about a variety of school trips planned for this term, which will enrich classroom learning and offer students hands-on, real-world experiences. In addition, sporting events and physical activities will give students the chance to develop teamwork, resilience, and school spirit. We look forward to working closely with our families and sharing a successful and enjoyable term together. Yours faithfully, Pamela Abbas Head of Infants | ECAs 11th, 18th & 25th January and 1st February

This week in Preschool, the children enjoyed an engaging learning experience exploring animals from different habitats, including the desert, polar regions, jungle and woodland. Through stories, discussions, role play and creative activities, the children learned where animals live and how they adapt to their environments. They explored animals such as camels, polar bears, monkeys and foxes, and showed great curiosity by asking questions and sharing their ideas. New vocabulary was introduced to support communication and language development. A highlight of the week was our sand pit play, which supported both gross and fine motor skills, teamwork and imaginative play. It has been a busy and enjoyable week of learning through play.

This week, Reception students began exploring their exciting new topic, Kings, Queens and Leaders. They learnt about King Charles III and Sheikh Tamim, comparing their traditional attire and discussing different leadership roles. The learners had great fun designing and creating their own crowns while imagining what life might be like as royalty. They also worked together to create rules for their own pretend kingdoms, thoughtfully considering what makes a good leader. Through role play and creative activities, the learners developed an early understanding of leadership. It was an exciting and engaging start to the topic, sparking curiosity and imagination.

This week in Year 1, the students have been busy learning in IPC and Maths through hands-on activities. In IPC, the students explored different materials by sorting and classifying objects according to their properties, which also supported key mathematical skills. They compared materials, identified the odd one out, and discussed what materials different objects are made from. Through this process, the students practised sorting, grouping and explaining their reasoning, helping to strengthen their understanding in both subjects. The students can now confidently sort objects into groups based on the material they are made from and clearly explain their choices. In Maths, Year 1 focused on adding by counting on within 20. The students used tens frames, counters and number lines to help them find their answers before writing the matching number sentences. They showed great effort using practical resources to support their learning.

The students have enjoyed observing and discussing the features of a range of local buildings. In Maths, they have been introduced to the first steps of multiplication and division through practical and visual activities. In Literacy, the students have further developed their understanding by learning about the key features of a non-chronological report.
