Al Sedra Bin Omran

Deputy Head of School's Comment

As we conclude the first week of Ramadan, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to you for your continued support in ensuring that our students maintain healthy routines during this special time. Your efforts in encouraging a balanced approach to rest, nutrition, and learning have been invaluable in helping them stay engaged and focused at school. It has been wonderful to see our students demonstrating resilience, kindness, and a deep sense of community throughout this blessed month. We appreciate your partnership in reinforcing these values at home and school. Wishing you and your families continued peace, happiness, and blessings during Ramadan. Ms. Kim

My Values Draw My Identity

Quote of the week

In a world full of distractions, Ramadan
reminds us to focus on what truly mattersour
faith, our values, and our connection to
one another. Protect your mind from
anything that weakens these bonds.

Preschool

Our whole school has been celebrating Ramadan with a special assembly, highlighting kindness, gratitude, and reflection during this important month. Students learn about fasting, charity, and community. It's a meaningful and inclusive school event. This week, our story is Giraffes Can't Dance by Giles Andreae. The story teaches children about confidence, self-acceptance, and perseverance. We'll explore the story through fun activities. In Maths we've been consolidating about patterns, focusing especially on the patterns found on animals.

Reception

The children in Reception this week have enjoyed continuing our topic about Ramadan. They are thoroughly enjoyed our Ramadan assembly hosted by the Arabic staff. In Literacy, we have been exploring the 'Ramadan Moon' book and writing sentences on how we spend our Eid with family. In Maths, we have been expanding our knowledge on numbers more than 20.

Year 1

Year 1 have been exploring Mass and Volume in Maths, using scales to measure and compare the weight of items. They found some objects, like pencils, light, and others, like books or boxes, heavier, helping them understand mass comparisons. In Literacy, children have been writing setting descriptions for The Rainbow Fish using adjectives and expanded noun phrases. In SPAG, they are focusing on using adverbs to improve their writing. Year 1 also had a fantastic time performing in Bin Omran's Ramadan assembly for the whole school. Well done Year 1!

Year 2

In English we received statements, and we had to persuade our partners to believe our opinion was true. They wanted to challenge each other and created some great discussion!
