Welcome Back to GES Bin Omran! It has been wonderful to welcome all our students back to GES Bin Omran for the start of the new academic year. I am extremely delighted to see our children returning with such enthusiasm, excitement and readiness for another year of fun, learning and new opportunities. We have had a very positive and smooth start to the academic year, and it has been lovely to see our classrooms and corridors full of energy once again. Over the coming weeks, we look forward to picking up the pace as pupils settle into their classes, establish good routines and become fully engaged in their learning. At GES Bin Omran, our three core values of Respect, Responsibility and Resilience remain at the heart of everything we do. Throughout the year, we will continue to encourage our pupils to show respect for themselves and others, take responsibility for their actions and learning, and demonstrate resilience by persevering, embracing challenges and always trying their best. Our staff have been working hard to ensure that every child feels happy, safe and supported. We are excited about the many learning experiences, activities and opportunities ahead and look forward to seeing our pupils grow in confidence, independence and achievement. Thank you, as always, to our parents and families for your continued support. By working together, I am confident that we can make 2026–2027 another successful, enjoyable and memorable year at GES Bin Omran.

Reception |
Reception Has Started!!!! We have had a lovely few days so far. The children have been getting to know their new teachers, class, friends and activities. They have been great at learning the routines and exploring their new environment. Some of the children already knew each other and are happy to be reunited and there have been new friendships formed. The children have been learning to write and read their names, listen to stories, count and recognise numbers, cook delicious food in the home corner, make pictures and drawings and sing songs. We are looking forward to an amazing year were each of us will flourish.

Year 1 |
🌟 What a brilliant beginning to Year 1! 🌟 Our first week has been full of smiles, excitement and new experiences! 🎉 The children have done a fantastic job settling into their new classroom, getting to know their teachers and classmates, and becoming familiar with our Year 1 routines. We are already so proud of how confidently they have started their new journey! 💛 ✏️ Literacy: This week, we have been strengthening our handwriting skills, focusing on forming our letters correctly and neatly. We have also been revisiting our phonics sounds and using them to help us with our reading and writing. 📚 🔢 Maths: We have started exploring Place Value, with lots of practical counting and number activities. 🧮 🌍 IPC: We are getting ready to begin our exciting new topic, “WHO AM I?” The children will be creating their own special projects to share more about themselves, including their favourite things, interests, families, cultures and what makes them unique! 🥰🎨 ⭐ It has been such a positive and exciting first week in Year 1. We cannot wait to see the children grow in confidence, discover new things and achieve amazing goals throughout the year. Here’s to a fantastic year ahead! 🎉📚✨

Year 2 |
What an amazing start to the new academic year! 🎉 Year 2 have had a fantastic first week getting to know their new teachers, catching up with friends and settling into their new classrooms. We have been learning our new routines, making new memories and having lots of fun along the way! In Literacy, we have been focusing on handwriting and phonics ✏️, practising forming our letters carefully and using our phonics knowledge to support our reading and writing. In Maths, we began our new Place Value unit 🔢, developing our counting skills and exploring numbers and their value. In IPC, we started our Superhumans topic by creating our own self-portraits. The children carefully observed themselves and focused on the features that make each of us unique. In PSHE, we have been thinking about friendships. We explored what friendship means to us, what makes someone a good friend and how we can show kindness, care and respect towards others. It has been a wonderful first week, and we are so excited for all the learning, laughter and adventures that Year 2 has in store! ✨

Year 3 |
What an amazing first few days we’ve had in Year 3! The children have come back to school full of enthusiasm, confidence and positive energy! It has been lovely seeing them reconnect with friends, settle into their new classroom and begin learning our new routines and expectations. We’ve also enjoyed lots of fun activities together, giving the children opportunities to work as a team, problem-solve and get to know one another.

Year 4 |
It has been a wonderful first week back with the children! We have really enjoyed welcoming everyone into Year 4, getting to know the children and helping them become familiar with their new teachers, classroom and routines. We hope that everyone has settled in well and is feeling happy, confident and excited for the fantastic year ahead. This week, we recapped our previous knowledge of place value and numbers before beginning to work with numbers greater than 1,000. We expanded our learning to 4-digit numbers, focusing on the value of each digit in the thousands, hundreds, tens and ones columns. The children have been practising reading, writing and representing these larger numbers and building on their previous place value knowledge. In English, we refreshed some of the key writing skills that will help us throughout Year 4. We recapped the correct use of capital letters, full stops and commas, and discussed how punctuation helps to make our writing clear and easy to understand. The children had opportunities to apply these skills when writing and editing their own sentences. It has been lovely to see the children settling back into school life, reconnecting with their friends and approaching their learning with enthusiasm. We are looking forward to continuing to build positive classroom routines and beginning our exciting Year 4 topics over the coming weeks.

🔢 Maths: We have been exploring place value and developing our understanding of numbers up to 1,000,000. ✏️ Writing: We have begun exploring our new text, Road’s End, and creating text maps to help us remember and retell the story. 🪐 Science: We have been learning about the solar system and creating mnemonics to help us remember the planets in order. 🌍 IPC: We began with an engaging trading game, exploring how trading opportunities and challenges can differ between economically wealthy and poorer countries.

Year 6 |
This Week in Year 6🔢 Maths: We have been sharpening our mental maths skills by revisiting and practising our 2, 5 and 10 times tables to improve speed and accuracy. We have also been exploring place value up to 10,000,000, including identifying the value of individual digits within numbers and partitioning large numbers in different ways. This has helped to strengthen the children's number sense and confidence when working with larger numbers. ✏️ Literacy: We have been exploring a range of texts linked to the theme of starting Year 6, including cloze procedures and reading comprehension activities. These tasks have helped to widen our vocabularies, improve our understanding of unfamiliar words and develop our ability to read for meaning and author intent. We have also begun our new class novel, Varjak Paw, discussing our first impressions and making predictions about the story. In addition, we have been introduced to information texts, exploring their purpose and key features in preparation for our own non-fiction writing later in the term. 🪐 Science: We have begun exploring our new topic, Variation and Adaptation. The children have been learning that individuals within the same species can have different characteristics and have started considering how these differences can help living things survive in their environments. 🌍 IPC: We have begun our new topic on Metacognition, which focuses on understanding how we learn. The children have started exploring different learning strategies, reflecting on their strengths as learners and thinking about how they can become more independent, resilient and effective when tackling new challenges. 🎉 Well done, Year 6, a fantastic start to the term!

It has been a wonderful and energetic week of learning in EYFS, with children using their imaginations, creativity and bodies to explore, express themselves and have lots of fun! Music – Exploring Nursery Rhymes PE – Exploring Space and Movement Overall, it has been a fantastic week filled with creativity, movement and discovery. Children have shown great enthusiasm and excitement, and it has been wonderful to see them learning, exploring and having fun together! KS1 It has been a fantastic and exciting week for KS1, with children showing wonderful creativity, enthusiasm and energy across their Creative Arts and PE lessons! 🌟 🎨 Creative Arts – All About MeIn Creative Arts, children have been busy creating their own colourful “All About Me” posters. They have explored a variety of colours, shapes, textures and materials to create artwork that represents who they are and the things they enjoy. Children have loved making their own creative choices, experimenting with different materials and watching their ideas come to life. It has been wonderful to see their personalities shine through their artwork, with each child creating a unique and special poster. 🎨✨ 🏃 PE – Invasion GamesPE has been full of fun, movement and excitement as children have been introduced to the world of invasion games. Through exciting tag games, relay races and team activities, children have developed their running, agility, speed and ability to change direction. They have also begun learning how to find space, work together, communicate with their teammates and follow simple rules. Most importantly, children have shown great enthusiasm for being active and have enjoyed encouraging and supporting one another. ⚽🏃♀️🏃♂️ Overall, it has been a brilliant week of learning and discovery. Children have demonstrated fantastic creativity, energy, teamwork and confidence, while showing a wonderful willingness to try new activities and challenges.
