My name is Szilvi Nemeth and I will be teaching Art in the Junior School. I started at The Gulf English School in 2014 in the LS Department and this year I am looking forward to teach Art. Previously, I have taught in Hungary and in the UK. My goal is to inspire students to achieve their potentials and to explore their creative ability by creating amazing art pieces throughout the year. I hope your children will enjoy my lessons and come away from my class with positive experience and learned skills that will help them during their lifetime.

Our curriculum follows the British National Curriculum and Standards. We teach: Skill and Techniques, Creation and Communication, Cultural and Historical Connections, Aesthetic and Critical analysis and Applications to Life. Basically that means we teach your children more than just drawing. They have to understand composition, shades and hues, confidently use various techniques, understand cultures and history, be able to evaluate art pieces and understand how art affects and influences lives.

Daniel Clark

Business Studies Teacher

My name is Daniel Clark. I was born in Portsmouth in the UK but we lived over the water in Gosport. I won a place at the Portsmouth Grammar school which meant cycling and a ferry every day but I loved the School. I first started teaching as a Cadet at the school when as a corporal I gained the British Army Certificate of Instruction and starting teaching younger Cadets the finer points of the military life. At school I played Rugby for the School and the County and for the Second Division Havant. My family then moved to Bournemouth where I joined the Bournemouth School. By then my interests in International affairs had awakened and I choose the best University in Europe for International Politics and Strategic Studies ; the ancient Aberystwyth University. After this I decided to broaden my education into business and took a Post Graduate diploma in Managing Export Performance after winning a scholarship from the Dorset Chamber of Commerce. After achieving a Distinction I was asked to stay on and complete the MBA program. I then entered the world of Academia at Luton University taking a Doctorate in Finance. As part of this program I had to give Lectures. I found that I preferred teaching to research so I took a Post Graduate Certificate in education at Warwick University at the National Centre for Education Technology. During my Teaching Career I have mostly taught Business Studies and ICT. I started as a teacher, then as second in department and later as Head of Department. Finally I was made the Co-ordinator for ICT across the entire school. The professional highlights of my career were probably the two national awards for excellence. I am particularly proud of the one for outstanding student progress where the students in my classes achieved an average of more than two grades higher than expected. I have taught International students at boarding and international schools in the UK and I felt is was time to join them abroad!! I have always been interested in the history and culture of the Middle East and I always enjoyed teaching Arabs hence I choose to teach at GES.

My favourite sport is Rugby though a parachuting injury prevents me playing at a professional level so I mainly used to walk in the hills of Dorset and play Badminton occasionally. I competed nationally at strategy games in the UK and have a large trophy cabinet so I am still a child at heart. I paint model soldiers and vehicles. I enjoy science fiction and fantasy movies and books. I have a real passion for History.

I joined GES in August 2016. I use the Harvard case study method in my teaching where you teach using real examples and question the class to gain information. I  choose the cases based on the needs and interests of the class. I believe the more interesting the case the more students remember the information. I believe that any student who works hard will succeed and that my job is to ensure they do want to do so.
