GES's greatest asset is its teaching staff! We have close to 172 teachers on staff, representing 14 different nationalities and tremendous collective breadth and depth of experience in international education.

We are very privileged to have highly qualified teachers, specialists of subjects, and support staff at GES. Our teachers are native English speakers with international experience and experience in the National Curriculum of England and Wales.

I am Geoff Vaughan. I qualified in the UK from the University of Stirling with BA Hons in English with Education (DiP ED, QTS) with specialisms in teaching literacy and learning support. I have taught in the UK since then, being responsible for developing and implementing a wide variety of learning programmes within both the Primary and Secondary sector. I have been working at The Gulf English School since November 2012. My personal interests include playing tennis, golf and swimming and I enjoy reading, poetry and cookery.

My aim is to establish support in the school that is reflective of the needs of our particular students, allows parents to feel confident with the support their children are being provided with and to develop our own expertise so that the school becomes an outstanding provider of a wide range of learning support for our students here at the school.

My name is David Frame and I am the Acting Head of the Secondary School. I joined the school in 2011. I have a BSc in Chemistry and a PGCE in Secondary Education. Having taught in England, Mexico and China before coming to Qatar I have 12 years experience in International Schools. I am a very keen cricketer and have even played in Japan! My favourite thing to do is lose myself in a book as often as possible.

My name is Ina Gerrard and I am the Head of Primary.

I have been teaching for 36 years and have worked in South Africa and in the UK before starting as a Year 1 teacher at The Gulf English School five years ago. In my second year I was promoted to Deputy Head of Infants and then Deputy Head of Juniors.

I am energetic and very positive in my outlook on life. I am a people’s person and thoroughly enjoy working with children. It is  a wonderful experience being part of such a pro active school, vibrant school.

My hobbies are reading and gardening, the latter which I am not able to pursue to its full extent at this time.

My motto in life is to count my blessings and to serve people.

My name is Kym Lusiola - born in Kenya, raised and educated in the UK.  I gained an MChem Honours degree from the University of Hull. I then went on to gain my PGCE and Masters in Science Education from the Institute of Education, University of London. After qualifying, I spent two challenging but enjoyable years teaching Science in the North East of England. Subsequently I spent two years as Head of Chemistry in a British international co-educational boarding school in rural Kenya. I joined GES in August 2013.

My name is Sara Howe and I am the whole school EAL coordinator. Before coming to Doha I taught for two years in Mexico City then set up and coordinated an EAL department at an international school in Shanghai.  I am a Geography graduate from Exeter University and also have a diploma in TEFL teaching and an Ad. Cert TEFL from Aston University. In England I worked for Riding for the Disabled teaching both adults and children riding and care of the horse and I am also a keen horsewoman.  I have competed in Tetrathlon and show jumping for my home county in England.  I hold a British Horse Society certificate to teach horse riding.  I enjoy working with a range of learning styles and I love the challenge of meeting the needs of students from a variety of cultures and backgrounds. I believe in positive behavior management and in making learning fun at all times. I aim, with the help of the EAL team, to develop EAL support across the school that meets the needs of all students and families alike. I believe that parents are an essential part of learning and look forward to working in partnership with our parents here at GES. I joined GES in August 2012.

Hi, my name is Carol de Jongh and I am the Deputy Head of the Infants school at GES.  I originate from the beautiful Cape Town, South Africa and have enjoyed travelling around the world teaching in different countries.  Before I arrived in Doha, I taught in a school in London for 10 years.  As a passionate educator I believe that Education changes lives.  I have witnessed the life changing effect that positive learning environments have on all learners. I strive to ensure that the people I work with embrace this passion.  I am committed to treating all with respect, love and dignity and sharing these values with everyone I am in contact with.  I believe that children hold the power to change mistakes of the past and so trust that what we teach them will shape them into responsible global citizens. I joined GES in August 2011.  I have met amazing people who have inspired me to be the best that I can be.  I love the city of Doha and particularly the people of Qatar.  The learners at our school are warm and loving and demonstrate that children are the same all over the world.  Here we celebrate differences and encourage learners to appreciate the good in everyone.  We strive to be the best that we can be and acknowledge each child’s unique talents and abilities. I believe that as we reflect and refine what we do, we will move from strength to strength.

My name is Kerry Hillan and my family and I are from Scotland. I graduated from the University of the West of Scotland with an Honours degree in Primary Teaching. Before moving to Qatar, my husband and I lived in Italy with our children for five years where I enjoyed my experience of teaching in an international environment. There I was involved with Primary children of all ages both as a classroom teacher and Literacy Coordinator. I joined GES in August 2015, I am excited to be able to work with a new group of students and teachers in the Junior section of GES.

My name is Mohammed Sidat and I was born and bred in the UK. I studied at the University of Bradford after going through the education system and obtained a degree in Pharmaceutical Management. I went on to do my teaching degree, also in my home town of Bradford, majoring in Physics and Chemistry. After qualifying as a teacher, I taught Science in the UK for 3 years before joining The Gulf English School in 2009. I have found that being a Muslim myself has helped me to settle in as I am already aware of the traditions of the Islamic heritage. In 2010, I took on the role of second in department in Science and Head of Pastoral for KS4 boys. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at the school and this year brings new challenges for me as I take on the role of Deputy Head of Secondary.

Away from the classroom, I enjoy playing football and other sports and was involved in coaching the school football team last year. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends

My name is Ryan Sullivan and I am the CPD Coordinator at The Gulf English School, responsible for the professional development of our staff as well as teaching Music and General Studies in the Secondary School. I graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland with a First Class Honours degree in Music, having been awarded the Leverhulme Trust Scholarship and the Royal Philharmonic Society Sir John Barbirolli Award amongst other prizes. Before joining The Gulf English School I taught English in Shanghai at ECNU as part of the Study China Programme and in Thailand with the British Council, working mostly on development. I also taught whole school Music and English at Saint George’s School in Girona, Spain. One of my great passions is travelling, so living in the Middle East is a great hub for seeing the world. In summer, I also work as a Trip Director with Travel For Teens, a US based organisation that facilities global educational and adventure trips for teenagers. I’ve travelled to 40 countries so far with more on the horizon! I joined GES in August 2016.

Hello, my name is Sarah Jane Hawkins and I'm proud to have been a primary school teacher since 2002, having graduated from a UK university with a BSc and a PGCE. I have been lucky enough to have taught in four fantastic but very different infant and primary schools  -  the majority of my class teacher roles were Reception and Year 1/ 2, I have also taught as a class teacher in Year 3 and 4 and was a Curriculum Leader for both Literacy and PSHE.  I'm passionate about  Early Years education so I was excited to have joined GES as a pre-school teacher in August 2017.  I am looking forward to having a fun year with your children.

Outside of school, I have used my SEN experience leading art workshops for children with physical and learning disabilities and supported my favourite charities by taking part in crazy but fun events, including a few skydives.   On my days off, I'm most likely to be reading, swimming,  sight seeing, baking or gardening. My husband and I have travelled extensively before settling in Doha with our two cats.

My name is Barbara Battah. I was born and raised in Poland. After completing my Masters Degree in 2007 at Jagiellonian University in Kraków, I moved to the UK, which became my second home. My passion for teaching led me to complete a Post Graduate Certificate in Primary Education at the University of Northampton in 2012. My teaching career begun by working with Reception class for the first two years and I have to say that I enjoyed every single moment of it! Over the last two years, I have taught Year 5 which has been an absolutely amazing and rewarding experience.

On a personal level, my husband and I love travelling and learning about new cultures, languages as well as experiment with local cuisine. I enjoy challenges and I am hoping to learn some Arabic. Since I was young, I have always been involved in sports. Swimming is my passion so if there is a swimming pool around, that’s where I can be found. I joined GES in August 2016 and I am looking forward to creating exciting, challenging and rewarding opportunities and learning experiences for my class.

My name is Abid Nazir and I am from Bradford, England. Previous to joining GES in the August of 2016 I had been working as a primary school teacher for 7 years in Bradford, UK.

I have taught throughout key stage 1 and 2, and over the last four years I have been teaching Reception, Early Years.

As a reception teacher, I believe we need to set a strong, positive foundation for a child's education.

I have completed a Bachelor of Teaching (Primary) degree (2007-2008), at the University of Leeds, in order to realise my dream of becoming a primary school teacher.

During my spare time I enjoy relaxing and going out with family and friends. Furthermore, I have a keen interest in keeping fit and run often. I play football for my local team and captain a 5 a side team during the week.

 

I am passionate about teaching and wellbeing. I believe we can make this world a better place, one good deed at a time.

I starting teaching in 2011 and I have taught in international schools in China and Thailand before I joined GES in 2013. I love watersports and I enjoy paddle- boarding, wake-boarding, swimming and diving and I have recently completed my Dive Masters course. My name is Rebecca Kemp and I am from Newcastle in the North East of England. I gained a BA Hons Degree in Primary Education with QTS from the University of Cumbria in 2015. I always knew I wanted to teach from a young age and after various volunteer work at summer schools, this secured my career choice. In 2014 I spent 3 months during summer at a Camp in America working with 7-17-year-olds as a Camp Counsellor which I thoroughly enjoyed and it gave me the opportunity to experience a range of different cultures from around the world. I have spent time mainly working in Years 4, 5 and 6 during my first 2 years of teaching before moving to Qatar and joining GES in March 2017 as a Primary Teacher in Year 3.

Hi, my name is Karen Eden, I grew up in a very small town in the south of England, before moving to Newcastle upon Tyne, which is in the North East of England. I completed my degree at the University of Durham, and worked for several years in the North East of England before moving to Lagos in Nigeria. I married my husband, Mark, whilst in Nigeria and after two years, we decided we needed a break from this busy city so moved to Belgrade in Serbia. After a year in the cold there we moved to be among the warm welcoming climate and people of Qatar and joined GES in August 2013.

Hello, my name is Gary Shaw; I am from County Durham in the North East of England.  I obtained an LLB Law degree from Northumbria University and worked for 10 years in Local Government.  I qualified as a teacher gaining a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from Durham University in 2015, and taught in Year 5 in a UK primary school before joining GES in August 2016.

I love to keep fit and have run several marathons and half marathons.  I also love football and am a huge fan of Sunderland AFC who I regularly watch when in the UK.  I enjoy travelling, experiencing new cultures in addition to meeting new people.

I studied Criminology at Liverpool Hope University before a year teaching English in South Korea convinced me that teaching was the right challenge for me. After completing a Primary PGCE at Edge Hill University, I decided to take up my first teaching role at a British International School in the Philippines. I joined GES in August 2016. I have loved teaching a mixed-age Key Stage 2 class for the past two years and I am very excited to teach Year 6. Away from school, I keep myself busy with the odd triathlon and a bit of football.

My name is Lisa Marie Bell and I am the Year 3 Group Leader at The Gulf English School. I am originally from Glasgow, Scotland and this is my second year living in Qatar. I have been teaching for 8 years, having graduated from the University of Glasgow with a Bachelor of Primary Education in 2009. I have worked in a variety of educational contexts including mainstream, behaviour units and special educational needs. I particularly enjoy working with the early primary years and have considerable success in this area. 

I am a people person and enjoy socialising, travelling and good food. Passionate about charity, I recently climbed Ben Nevis in Scotland raising £2500 for Alopecia UK, a cause very close to my heart. 

I joined The Gulf English School in August 2016.

My name is Natasha and I am excited to have joined GES primary in August 2017, as a class teacher. I was born, raised and educated in London, England gaining a BSc Honours degree in Radiotherapy and Oncology. After completing my degree I was working in Medical Physics at several London hospitals, helping to cure cancer, which was a highly rewarding for me. However, my passions for learning and contributing to young people's lives drew me to teaching; I then returned to University and gained a Post Graduate Certificate in Primary Education and have been teaching for 5 years. I enjoy exercising, reading, painting, going shopping and teaching English to international students from all over the world during holidays.

My name is Susan McMullen.  I am from Liverpool in England.  I gained a BA Honours degree in Key Stage 2/3 with QTS and a postgraduate degree in Dyslexia at Edgehill University in Lancashire England.  During my teaching career, I have worked mainly in key stage two.  I spent two years working for Liverpool Education Authority as a School Improvement Officer.  This gave me the opportunity to present maths training to teachers and support colleagues within and beyond the city.  I came back to school in January as head of upper key stage two, supporting new maths leader and teaching year 5.   Prior to teaching, I worked in the travel industry.  I enjoy travelling and learning about different cultures, so it was a natural choice to want to do the job I love in a new country, where I can learn about the culture and cuisine. I swim regularly, which I enjoy immensely and Qatar gives me the opportunity to do this.  I joined GES in August 2017 as a classroom teacher.

I graduated from the University of Glasgow in the summer of 2016 where I obtained an MA Honours degree in Primary Education with Teaching Qualification. Throughout my degree course of study, I had the pleasure of gaining valuable teaching experience from Early Years all the way through to Key Stage 2. I subsequently completed my probationary year in a Scottish school during which time I was fully responsible for a Primary 2 (Year 1) class comprising of 30 pupils. Having successfully completed my probationary period, I now hold a Certificate of Full Registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland. During my free time, I enjoy immersing myself in art and design projects. I also have a passion for travel and Doha provides me with the perfect base to explore new places whenever possible.

My name is Theresa Charles and I am from London, England. I graduated from Lancaster University with a BA Hons with Qualified Teaching Status in 2004. I taught in a local London school for 13 years, before joining GES, Qatar in August 2017, as a class teacher. I assumed the Middle Management role as Computing Coordinator in 2007 and embraced the introduction of the new computing curriculum in 2013. I really enjoyed spending a year teaching and designing a new programme of study across the key stage 1 and 2. I am a dedicated person with a small family which keeps me quite busy.

 

I enjoy reading, and broadening my perspective on life, through travel. I feel that this has strengthened my teaching skills and presentation abilities, allowing me to have flexibility in the classroom, where there are many different personalities and learning styles.

I have an Undergraduate degree in Business Management (Huddersfield University; 2010) which lead me to work in the FTSE 100 for Liverpool Victoria where my role was Network Manager. I soon (September 2012) moved onto teaching where I found the greatest satisfaction knowing I was of benefit to the future of aspiring students and business leaders. I studied my PGCE at The University of Leeds; McMillan Teaching Campus. Here I realised how important education is and the positive impacts a classroom practitioner can make on a child's life. Through teaching I have established avenues for students creating 'Enterprising' courses where students are supported and benefited when applying for College/6th Form, Universities, jobs and general Life-Long sector support. My hobbies cover boxing, cycling, driving in the fast lane, bowling and travelling. Moving to Qatar is  a new challenge in the early stages of my teaching career but a firm belief that it will be a rewarding journey. I joined GES in August 2016.

My name is Mohammed Bilal Ahmed and I’ve been teaching ICT, Computing and Business for 7 years within London.  I studied at Queen Mary University to obtain my ICT/Business undergraduate degree and then went on to complete my teaching qualification at the University of East London.

I’ve taught in schools in South East London and also helped to setup the curriculum at a newly built school in East London more recently.

I’ve headed Computing, Enterprise and Business departments and love technology, the business environment and gadgets. My interests also include participation in sports, fitness as well as travelling. I’ve recently become a photography enthusiast and I’m sure I’ll be putting the DSLR camera to good use in Doha and beyond.

I’d class myself as multi faceted! I love teaching, love football and I have a degree in Architecture! Before moving to Qatar I played football semi professionally and as a youth represented my hometown, county and for North East England colleges!

My name is Ryan Sullivan and I am the CPD Coordinator at The Gulf English School, responsible for the professional development of our staff as well as teaching Music and General Studies in the Secondary School. I graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland with a First Class Honours degree in Music, having been awarded the Leverhulme Trust Scholarship and the Royal Philharmonic Society Sir John Barbirolli Award amongst other prizes. Before joining The Gulf English School I taught English in Shanghai at ECNU as part of the Study China Programme and in Thailand with the British Council, working mostly on development. I also taught whole school Music and English at Saint George’s School in Girona, Spain. One of my great passions is travelling, so living in the Middle East is a great hub for seeing the world. In summer, I also work as a Trip Director with Travel For Teens, a US based organisation that facilities global educational and adventure trips for teenagers. I’ve travelled to 40 countries so far with more on the horizon! I joined GES in August 2016.

My first teaching position was as a sculpture lecturer and a teacher of A-level art in a college in Wales, then at a School in Wales where I taught key stage 3 & 4. From 2010 to 2017 I taught at a Secondary School in England as an Art teacher before I joined GES in August 2017, this is my first International teaching post. I specialise across the fine arts.

 

My hobbies include travelling, cooking and anything art based.

My name is David Whitfield and I am from the UK where I gained a B Ed (Hons) in English and Education from Lancaster University.  I began my teaching career in a boys’ school in Liverpool following which I taught in an international school in Saudi Arabia before becoming an Education and Training Officer in the British Army.  As such, I was responsible for running education centres and special education projects in the UK, Hong Kong, Brunei, Germany and Nepal.  On leaving the Army, I worked as Bursar at the British International School in Riyadh before arriving at GES in August 2011.  A lapsed Arabic speaker, my interests include reading, rugby and the bagpipes.  In 2006 I was awarded an MBE for services to education.

In my own time I enjoy reading, singing, socialising with friends, cooking, cycling, travelling, listening to music and being with my family.

Upon completion of my degree, I taught Geography in Jamaica before migrating to England to read for my masters. I gained my Master of Arts degree from the University of Nottingham in 2012 with merit.

I taught Geography in England for ten years as well as being head of the faculty for humanities before moving to GES in August 2015 as a classroom teacher.

In my spare time, I enjoy watching sports and playing football and cricket. Additionally, I enjoy travelling, experiencing and learning about new places, cultures and their environment.

My name is Sanna Butt. I am from London, England. I studied for my degree (Environmental Science) at the University of Bradford. I am passionate about physical geography in particular the natural landscapes and hazards as well as the natural processes that shape our world. Though I do also thoroughly enjoy the geopolitical side of geography and like to stay updated with current world affairs. After completing my degree I studied for my PGCE in Secondary Geography at the renowned UCL Institute of Education. Once qualified, I worked at Seven Kings School in East London for two years. In my spare time I love to be creative expressing myself in various forms of art such as Islamic Arabic calligraphy, traditional art and sketching. I have a passion for travelling and exploring new places and cultures. I have always been fascinated by the Egyptian civilisation and history and have a keen interest in the rich Islamic culture and history of the Middle East. Never do I shy away from sports as I do enjoy badminton and netball. Last year I joined the gym and have been loving fitness ever since! I joined GES in August 2016.

I Graduated from Manchester Metropolitan university with a Combined Honors Degree in Computer Science and Applicable Mathematics and completed my PGCE at The Manchester University. I then taught for 8 years at The Derby High School in Manchester, United Kingdom. During my 8 years of teaching I have held the roles of second in department and mentor to Newly Qualified Teachers (NQT).

I have co-organised two PGL trips, one to Shropshire and the other to the south of France.

I Joined GES in August 2012.

I enjoy playing football in my spare time and I am a big, big Manchester United Fan!

I joined GES in August 2010. I moved to Doha from the UK, where I taught Mathematics for the best part of 10 years in schools in London. I am a qualified PGCE Secondary Maths teacher and also hold a B.Eng. degree in Chemical Engineering from University of Nottingham. Prior to my position as Head of Mathematics here at GES, I held the positions of AS Maths Coordinator and GCSE Maths Coordinator in London. I have taught in both secondary schools and sixth form academies, and have therefore got immense amount of experience in all levels of Maths (KS3, KS4 and KS5). In KS5, I specialize in both Mechanics and Statistics at AS Level and IB Level. Before I started teaching, I was a Senior Chemical Process Engineer at Esso/Exxon for 3 years, after which I went Imperial College, London to purse an M.Sc.  in Chemical Processes. During my time at Imperial College, I took on teaching at a sixth form academy and enjoyed it so much, that I haven’t looked back ever since.

My name is Vincent Ellison and I am originally from Liverpool but have spent most of my adult life living/working in the Isle of Man.

I gained a BSc Honours with QTS in Educational and Professional (Secondary) Studies with Mathematical Practice from Edgehill University, Lancaster in 1997.

Before starting my Teaching career I was a qualified Engineer. Main activities involved programming NC machines, monitoring up against the progress of Apprentices.

I joined the teaching profession in 1997 and have loved every minute of it.

From K2/3 Transition to becoming KS/4 Deputy Director, which involved line managing 18 tutors and delivering Pastoral SOW.

Interests include all sports and have had the opportunity to teach Physical Education which included Rugby, Football, Cricket and Basketball.

I've also been involved in the Duke of Edinburgh Scheme as the sports and recreation advisor giving advice and support to the students.

Rebecca has been teaching in schools and universities for twenty three years, having been a Director for Sport in state and private sector schools in the UK.  She taught biomechanics, sports nutrition and a range of sports injury and sports science modules at university, as well as teaching contemporary dance technique at university level.  Alongside this, Rebecca ran a grant funded community ballet school for eight years and was also Head Trainer for the NFL’s International Player Development Program (IPDP) for nine years.  Rebecca has worked with athletes of all ages, abilities and cultures in England, Europe, America and Mexico and this has also included work to support the development of student therapists and coaches. She provided services in sports injury management and elite athlete development to the NFL’s IPDP and continued to work independently with professional and developmental athletes until her departure for Doha in 2012.  Rebecca is an FEI licensed endurance jockey and spends most of her spare time exercising and caring for her horse (Kelly)… Kelly is now a happy resident at Al Samariyah Equestrian Centre at Sheikh Faisal’s Farm.

My name is Andrew Mackie and I come from the picturesque and historical town of St Andrews in Scotland. I have spent most of my professional life working in education, notably in South Korea where I settled for over a decade and taught EFL to elementary school students as well as technical English to nuclear power plant workers in Ulsan. I moved to Qatar in September 2015 in order to broaden my professional and cultural outlooks and I have found this experience both rewarding and fascinating. Being in Qatar has given me an ideal work-life balance that allows me to engage with my musical passion in the romantic piano repertoire as well as honing my fishing skills on weekends; alas, much work still remains to be done on my fishing.

My name is Tim Jackson and I hail from Underberg village in the beautiful Drakensberg Mountains of South Africa.  During my National Service I was commissioned in the in the South African Artillery Corps and thereafter rose to the rank of Captain with the citizen force Natal Field Artillery Regiment.  I have a four year Higher Diploma in Primary Education from Natal Teachers' Training College.  My teaching career has spanned 36 years, of which 17 have been as headmaster and has seen me fill posts in South Africa, Botswana and for the last 5 years, Qatar, where I was a KS3 Learning Support Teacher and House Tutor.  I enjoy long walks, especially in the mountains, reading and music.  I am the harmonica player in a folk rock band in Al Khor.  I joined GES in August 2016.

I moved to Qatar in 2012,  from the North East of England, after spending the past eight years as a careers guidance counsellor at a further education college in the UK.

Prior to my counselling role I was children’s services manager for a large care organisation responsible for a number of different children’s services, including residential care, fostering, adoption, family assessment and day services.

I studied for my degree at Sunderland University and the Open University, I specialise in Nursing, management and learning disabilities. In addition I obtained my post graduate teaching qualification.

I am in Qatar with my husband who teaches at another school. We have two children who are both at university in London.

I enjoy musical theatre, reading and travel.

I'm Jeanielyn Viado Sunga, Teaching Assistant in Year 3. I'm from Philippines and graduated at the City of Malabon University in Manila as Teacher - Bachelor in Primary Education. What I know about my qualification is I'm patient, hardworking, trustworthy, loyal, consider others, dedicated, loving to the children and I can appreciate everything. I have been married for 2 years.

My previous work experience includes 5 years as a Teacher for Year 1 to Year 8, I taught at 2 different schools in the Philippines and I have taught all subjects, I have also worked in HR for Macthyl Agency and as a Clerk in the Mall. I arrived in Qatar, April 2013.

I  really enjoy the company of the children in GES, I like to be with them for a long time, I like to know much about their ability in their studies, I want to be a part of their life and I like to witness their successful studies someday when they will graduate from GES.

I am Jhavon Hafalia and from the Philippines. I finished my Bachelor of Secondary Education at University of the East, Manila in 2012. Since then I have worked as a Secondary teacher in Espana, Manila, and in an academy teaching EFL for Korean Students. Then I decided to travel and come to Doha.

I started work at GES in early 2013 as a teaching assistant and am enjoying being with the Year 4 classes.

My name is Mark Eden and I am a Teaching Assistant in Year 4. I am from one of the most Northerly towns in England, Newcastle upon Tyne. I married my wife in Nigeria where we lived for two years before moving to Serbia and then on to Qatar. I joined GES in 2010 and enjoy living and working here and hope to be here for many years to come. My favourite part of the job is being able to work with the amazing children we have in the school, both inside and outside the classroom.

My name is David Frame and I am the Head of the Secondary School. I joined the school in 2011. I have a BSc in Chemistry and a PGCE in Secondary Education. Having taught in England, Mexico and China before coming to Qatar I have 12 years experience in International Schools. I am a very keen cricketer and have even played in Japan! My favourite thing to do is lose myself in a book as often as possible.

My name is Mohammed Sidat and I was born and bred in the UK. I studied at the University of Bradford after going through the education system and obtained a degree in Pharmaceutical Management. I went on to do my teaching degree, also in my home town of Bradford, majoring in Physics and Chemistry. After qualifying as a teacher, I taught Science in the UK for 3 years before joining The Gulf English School in 2009. I have found that being a Muslim myself has helped me to settle in as I am already aware of the traditions of the Islamic heritage. In 2010, I took on the role of second in department in Science and Head of Pastoral for KS4 boys. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at the school and this year brings new challenges for me as I take on the role of Deputy Head of Secondary.

Away from the classroom, I enjoy playing football and other sports and was involved in coaching the school football team last year. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends

Since being in Qatar, I have had two daughters who have both been born here. My claim to fame is being on a television gameshow in the UK. Qatar has afforded me many opportunities in my life and I am proud to live here and be at GES.

My name is Ina Gerrard and I am the Head of Primary.

I have been teaching for 36 years and have worked in South Africa and in the UK before starting as a Year 1 teacher at The Gulf English School in August 2010. In my second year I was promoted to Deputy Head of Infants and then Deputy Head of Juniors.

I am energetic and very positive in my outlook on life. I am a people’s person and thoroughly enjoy working with children. It is  a wonderful experience being part of such a pro active school, vibrant school.

My hobbies are reading and gardening, the latter which I am not able to pursue to its full extent at this time.

My motto in life is to count my blessings and to serve people.

Hi, my name is Carol de Jongh and I am the Deputy Head of the Infants school at GES.  I originate from the beautiful Cape Town, South Africa and have enjoyed travelling around the world teaching in different countries.  Before I arrived in Doha, I taught in a school in London for 10 years.  As a passionate educator I believe that Education changes lives.  I have witnessed the life changing effect that positive learning environments have on all learners. I strive to ensure that the people I work with embrace this passion.  I am committed to treating all with respect, love and dignity and sharing these values with everyone I am in contact with.  I believe that children hold the power to change mistakes of the past and so trust that what we teach them will shape them into responsible global citizens. I joined GES in August 2011.  I have met amazing people who have inspired me to be the best that I can be.  I love the city of Doha and particularly the people of Qatar.  The learners at our school are warm and loving and demonstrate that children are the same all over the world.  Here we celebrate differences and encourage learners to appreciate the good in everyone.  We strive to be the best that we can be and acknowledge each child’s unique talents and abilities. I believe that as we reflect and refine what we do, we will move from strength to strength.

My name is Kerry Hillan and my family and I are from Scotland. I graduated from the University of the West of Scotland with an Honours degree in Primary Teaching. Before moving to Qatar, my husband and I lived in Italy with our children for five years where I enjoyed my experience of teaching in an international environment. There I was involved with Primary children of all ages both as a classroom teacher and Literacy Coordinator. I joined GES in August 2015, I am excited to be able to work with a new group of students and teachers in the Junior section of GES.
